By: Jim Dunn Racing

LONG BEACH, CA (May 28, 2025) — NHRA Funny Car driver Buddy Hull and the Jim Dunn Racing team are set to turn heads as they roll into the NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway, May 30-June 1. Their striking 75th anniversary Mooneyes livery, making its third appearance this season, will make its furthest eastward debut, bringing a new level of style and performance to the east coast. Longtime sponsor Compass Facility Services will also be featured more prominently on the back wing of the nitro Funny Car for this race and the Thunder Valley Nationals.

Hull, who has been steadily building momentum throughout the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season, is eager to capitalize on the team’s progress. With strong qualifying performances and consistent gains in power and precision, Hull is ready to put his Funny Car through its paces on the legendary New England track.

Jim Dunn Racing and Buddy Hull will be bringing iconic Mooneyes look to Epping this weekend

“The Mooneyes livery is not just eye-catching – it’s a tribute to the spirit of hot rodding and the roots of our sport,” said Hull. “To bring this iconic design to the fans in New England, for the first time this far east, is something really special. We’ve been making solid progress with the Jim Dunn Racing team all year, and I’m feeling confident heading into Epping. We’re ready to show what this car can do.”

Jim Dunn, a legend within the sport of drag racing, continues to support Hull’s growth as a competitive force in the Funny Car ranks. The team has been fine-tuning its setup to meet the unique challenges of the Epping track, and fans can expect an exciting weekend of high-speed action. During the second round of qualifying on Friday night, Hull will be competing for the No. 1 Clawifier Award that comes with a large lobster for himself and a lobster dinner for the team, presented by NAPA.

“I love when tracks do something a little different to help differentiate their race from the 19 others on tour,” said Hull. “It makes it more fun for the drivers, but also the fans. I want to be able to sit on that lobster pot throne and take home the inaugural No. 1 Clawifier prize.”

The NHRA New England Nationals promises a weekend filled with side-by-side racing, dramatic launches, and the roaring spectacle of nitro-fueled Funny Cars. For Hull, it’s a chance to build on the season’s progress and make a statement on one of the East Coast’s most electrifying dragstrips. Hull is excited that Mooneyes fans will get to experience the thrilling on-track action, as well as be able to purchase all kinds of iconic Mooneyes merchandise at the Mooneyes trailer that is also making the trip out east. Jim Dunn Racing is running a limited-edition Mooneyes New England Nationals hero card this weekend. And Buddy Hull fans can catch him on the NHRA stage doing New Fan Orientation with Hannah Rickards on Friday at 3:45 p.m.

This weekend is the home race for Jim Dunn Racing partner Compass Facility Services (CFS). CFS has provided quality-driven building maintenance services for the corporate market for over forty-seven years. They proudly employ over 700 people and realize the reputation of their company lies in the qualified supervision of well-trained field personnel. Achievement of this goal, together with pride in their work has led to many years of success.

In addition to Mooneyes and CFS, Hull will also be representing in New England season-long sponsors Lescure Mechanical Services, Blaze Exhaust Probes, KGC Construction, Vertex Roofers and General Contractors, Crow Safety, Koppl Pipeline Services, True Brand, USD and Wiley X.

“You know it’s going to be a great weekend if the Mooneyes car is on the track, and the finals are on FOX,” said Hull. “We’re ready to show off and show out, in front of a fantastic east coast crowd and the Compass crew. I can’t wait to get the weekend started.”

Hull and the Jim Dunn Racing team will have two qualifying runs on Friday, May 30 and then two more qualifying runs on May 31 at New England Dragway. The 16 Funny Cars with the quickest elapsed times after four rounds of qualifying will advance in competition for a chance at a Wally and lobster pot buoy trophy on Sunday, June 1 at 11 a.m. ET with the finals on FOX.
