PASSCAR SUPER STOCKS, STREET STOCKS, GAS CHASSIS YOUNG GUN SPRINTS AND SENIOR SPRINTS SATURDAY AT PERRIS

(Perris, CA, August 15, 2024) In addition to the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars in the Brother Brett Classic, the PASSCAR Super Stocks, Street Stocks, GAS Chassis Young Gun Sprints, and the PAS Senior Sprints will also be racing at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, August 17^th.  Spectator gates at the West Coast’s premiere half-mile clay oval will open at 5:00 p.m., and the racing will begin at 7:00

The tightest points race heading into Saturday night is in the PASSCAR Super Stocks.  Veterans Chuck Becker of Yucaipa and Billy Griffin of Buena Park, who started racing against each other in the 1980s at legendary Ascot Park in Gardena, are on top of the championship point standings.  Becker, who holds a paper-thin two-point lead over Griffin in the season-long point standings, won his second main event in a row in July.  However, it was anything but easy.  In what may have been the greatest Super Stock race in track history, the two raced side by side for laps in a crowd-pleasing duel.  The win allowed Becker, a three-time Modified track champion, to extend his precarious lead to two points in the battle over four-time track champion (three Modified and one Super Stock) Griffin in the standings.  Tom Wesolowski of Canyon Lake, whose father Henry raced with Becker and Griffin at Ascot, is third.  Defending class champion Ricky Lee of Banning is fourth, with rookie Kameron Perry of Riverside, who wheels an ex-Irwindale pavement car, in fifth.

Enjoying his finest season to date, James Altman Jr. of Lake Elsinore has yet to finish outside the top four this season in the PASSCAR Super Stocks. After winning the season opener in February, the veteran driver finished third in March, second in May, and fourth in June.  Those performances have propelled him to a 10-point lead over fast-rising teenager Cameron Pierce of Lake Matthews in the season-long standings. Rancho Palace Verdes Racer George Levantis, the son of two-time defending class champion Chris Leventis, is currently third in the point standings. Moreno Valley’s Brandon Kelly, a two-time track champion, is fourth.  Second through fourth are only separated by six points.  Morgan Rowlan of Riverside rounds out the top five.

Westminster’s Brecken Guerrero has a huge 57-point lead over Troy McKee of Redlands in the GAS Chassis Young Gun Sprint Car Series.  The high point driver in the class at the end of the season will receive a brand new sprint car chassis from the GAS Chassis company.  Riverside’s Cody Deloye, Sean Rogers from Apple Valley, and Yucca Valley’s Seth Dyer are third, fourth, and fifth. 

The PAS Senior Sprint Cars will also be a part of Saturday’s show.  Bob Suchy of Tustin has a 69-point lead over fellow Orange County racer Greg Badgwell of Yorba Linda.  Nuevo’s Mike Kotlinski, Tyler Hatzikian of Murrieta and Simi Valley’s Jeff Shelton are third through fifth.

Adult tickets for Saturday night’s thrilling dirt track racing and clean family fun are $30.00. For seniors 65 and over, it is $25.00.  For kids 6-12 it is only five dollars, and children five and under are admitted free.  The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking.  

Advance tickets for all Perris Auto Speedway shows are available 24 hours a day online at https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7 or by calling 1-800-595-4849. For fans who do not wish to buy tickets in advance, there will be plenty available at the ticket window every race night.

The PAS is conveniently located on the freeway close Lake Perris Fairgrounds, home of the Southern California Fair, in nearby Riverside County.  Take the 215 freeway.  Exit at the Ramona Expressway and go three miles east to the fairgrounds.
