INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 1, 2023) – The world’s biggest drag race marks the second event in the FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Type A Motorsports Road to the Championship, putting an even greater emphasis on winning this weekend’s Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
After opening their playoffs in Brainerd, this weekend’s race at The Big Go comes as the second of four events in the Road to the Championship. It is the eighth of 10 overall races during the 2023 season and this weekend’s action in Indy is powered by ProCharger. The class will also be featured during Sunday’s broadcast on the FOX broadcast network, continuing its Road to the Championship in front of a huge audience on drag racing’s grandest stage.
With the points reset that came with the Road to the Championship, Jason Lee jumped into the lead with his first career victory in the FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Type A Motorsports in Brainerd, setting the stage for plenty of dramatics this weekend in Indy.
Lee is one of four ProCharger drivers at the world’s biggest drag race, a group that also includes defending world champion Kris Thorne, Billy Banaka and Ken Quartuccio.
“ProCharger Superchargers is happy to be the choice of champions,” ProCharger SuperChargers Motorsports Manager Walt Sipp said. “From NHRA Pro Mod to Top Dragster and Top Sportsman, no one delivers the repeatable, reliable power like ProCharger.”
Justin Bond, who picked up three wins in the regular season, is currently second in the standings, trailing Lee by 28 points, while Thorne remains in contention for a second straight world title. He’s just a single point behind Bond, with a huge lineup of standout drivers competing for a Wally at The Big Go.
The NHRA Pro Mod entry list features 23 drivers in Indy, including the likes of multi-time world champ Rickie Smith, two-time world champ Stevie “Fast” Jackson, who is making his season debut this weekend, Jason Scruggs, J.R. Gray, Mike Castellana and 2021 world champ Jose Gonzalez.
Featuring the world’s fastest doorslammer race cars, the FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Type A Motorsports offers something unique and exciting for every drag racing fan.
