(Perris, CA) After one of the wildest shows in track history, “The Craziest Show On Dirt,” Night of Destruction presented by LKQ Pick Your Part, returns to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, April 6. The night of hilarious family fun, dirt track racing, and lots of wrecks, will begin at 7:00 p.m. Spectator gates at the beautiful Riverside County racing facility will open at 5:00.
Saturday’s action-packed, thrill-a-minute show will feature daring Figure 8 racing, rough and tumble Democross, no-holds-barred mighty Mini Stocks on the road course, a wild Figure 8 Trailer race, and of course, the zany Double Deckers. They are the same divisions that produced one of the craziest shows in track history. If a race vehicle drove onto the track at the season opener last month, there was more than a 75% chance that it had to be helped off by a tow truck.
“The season opener was one of the wildest shows we have hosted in the 28-year history of the track,” promoter Don Kazarian recalled about the race four weeks ago. “You did not know where to look because crashes were going on everywhere. The crowd was roaring all night and they had a great time.”
“Last month was the first Night of Destruction of the season and some cars were not ready. We expect to have some drivers who missed the night to be on hand with their new cars. Some other drivers who were there will have new cars this time as well after their cars got destroyed last month. I cannot wait to see it again this Saturday.”
Before the racing begins, all of the drivers and cars will be on the front straightaway from 5:15-5:45. Fans will be allowed to go on the track to meet them, take photos, get autographs, and collect free candy.
PAS Figure 8 legend Earl Cox of Norco won the season-opening Figure 8 main event. In his victory lane interview with Tom Gillum, the three-time PAS champion told the crowd that he had built cars for two other drivers who will be making their 2024 debut on Saturday.
Other winners on opening night were Riverside’s Brett Wayland in the wild Democross main that saw more than half of the field wrecked. Defending Mini Stock champion Kris Martin of Riverside steered his “Hot Wheels” themed car to the Mini Stock win on the curvy PAS road course. Veteran Michael Schattilly outdistanced the field and swerved in and out of all of the debris to win the Figure 8 Trailer race. In the Double Deckers, the “Hot Diggety Dodge” was the first to the checkers.
Adult tickets for the fast paced show that is usually over between 9:30 and 9:45 are $20.00. For kids 6-12 it is only $5.00 and children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking. Advance tickets are available 24 hours a day at tix.com or by calling 1-800-595-4849. If you do not wish to buy advance tickets, no problem at all. There will be plenty available for everyone at the ticket window beginning at 5:00 on Saturday.
Perris Auto Speedway is conveniently located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds (home of the Southern California Fair), one hour east of Los Angeles and one hour North of San Diego.
