ICYMI: Founders of Kubota High Limit Racing Unveil First Franchise System in the Sport

Prior to Thursday’s 2025 Kubota High Limit Racing season opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on FloRacing, series co-founders and owners, Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet, announced an industry-changing franchise system that will go into effect in 2026. Focused on creating a sustainable business model for its race teams, Kubota High Limit Racing will distribute up to $18 million dollars in total value over the next four years. As the five-highest finishers in the 2024 championship standings, the first five franchises currently belong to Kasey Kahne Racing (No. 49), Clauson-Marshall Racing (No. 7BC), Rico Abreu Racing (No. 24), Roth Motorsports (No. 83), and Murray-Marks Motorsports (No. 19). Five more franchises will be awarded at the conclusion of the 2025 Kubota High Limit Racing season. These franchises will be secured based on average point finishes from the 2024 and 2025 seasons among drivers who didn’t earn a franchise in 2024. “Maybe the most extreme thing I’ve ever done.”

There are few forms of auto racing that superstar motorsports driver and personality Travis Pastrana hasn’t taken his shot in. Winged sprint car racing, however, has long been one of them.

That changed on Friday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Dirt Track when the icon got behind the wheel of the Ridge & Sons Racing sprint car to take his first laps around the 1/2-mile track.

With Kyle Larson and High Rollers Brad Sweet and Aaron Reutzel there to coach him, Pastrana quickly got comfortable behind the wheel.

“Absolutely unbelievable,” said Pastrana told SprintCarUnlimited’s Jeremy Elliott following the test. “With the new series starting, I’ve been a huge fan and with the opportunity to get in the car. I couldn’t say no. The downforce is unbelievable. The power is unbelievable. Ear to ear grins.”

Look for more footage of the test and Pastrana’s thoughts on sprint car racing on his YouTube Channel, Channel 199, soon.
