SPEEDWAY, IN (May 14, 2025) – Despite another rain delay at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during Wednesday’s Indy 500 practice runs, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Jack Harvey were pleased with their on-track performance during the five-hour preparation for the May 25 “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing/Cusick Motorsports drivers were hoping for late runs on Tuesday afternoon, but nearby lightning storms halted the action with 30 minutes remaining. Hunter-Reay and Harvey resumed the team’s plans for the Wednesday session as soon as the 2 and ½-mile oval was opened. Hunter-Reay, the 2014 Indy 500 champion, quickly vaulted into the top-ten on the speed charts with 223.204 miles per hour clocking.
After just nine laps, Hunter-Reay’s No. 23 DRR/Cusick Motorsports Wedbush Chevrolet was taken back to Gasoline Alley for more adjustments, as Harvey’s No. 24 DRR/Cusick Motorsports INVST Chevrolet jumped up the charts to sixth with a 224.361 reading.
Both DRR/Cusick Motorsports pilots then worked through a long list of race settings with Harvey recording 65 laps and Hunter-Reay at 54. At the end of the day, Harvey was ninth overall with Hunter-Reay in 14th.
Following the conclusion of Wednesday practice, all NTT IndyCar Series teams performed pit stop practice with action being hot and heavy in pit lane. Both DRR/Cusick Motorsports crews showed excellent speed with their respective pit stops.

“Today was super useful despite the rain delay,” said Hunter-Reay. “We got through a lot of stuff and we found a good direction with the Wedbush Chevy in terms of racing running, and I’m looking forward to more of it on Thursday. I’m thankful for the hard work of the team in finding the proper direction. I feel good with the race car right now, but we hope to find a little more on Thursday.”
“Overall, it was a well-executed day for the INVST crew,” Harvey explained. “We verified the changes we made overnight that worked today. We actually stayed out in pit lane as a rainstorm was coming, and we ran some additional laps. We wanted to get as many laps as possible if it did rain. We did a good job minimizing the time in the garage today. We tried various things and we went back to the direction we like, and made me more confident. All the years here at IMS, confidence is a big thing for me with the race car. For the race setup, we have made improvements each day.”
Indy 500 practice rounds are scheduled for Thursday, May 15, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. EDT followed by pit stop practice from 6 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Qualifications are scheduled for May 17-18. The 109th Indy 500 will take place on Sunday, May 25.
