TORONTO (July 16, 2025) – To say rookie driver Louis Foster is excited for the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto race this weekend (July 18-20) would be an understatement.
The 21-year-old British racer comes to the “416” seeking to put his No. 45 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Droplight Honda IndyCar on the podium when Friday’s practice round gets underway at 3 p.m. EDT.
The reason for Foster’s enthusiasm in competing at the 11-turn, 1.786-mile Toronto street circuit around Exhibition Place is his past experience in the event and his recent NTT INDYCAR SERIES qualifying efforts in the RLL Droplight Honda.
Three years ago, Foster dominated the two F2000 races at TO with two poles, two victories and two fastest race laps in his climb to through the North America open-wheel ladder which also included the 2024 INDY NXT series championship. In addition, this year Foster has an NTT INDYCAR SERIES pole position at Road America and two appearances in the coveted Firestone Fast Six in qualifying.
Foster currently leads the “Rookie of the Year” point standings after 12 events and looks to better his top finish of the season of 11th. Plus, Foster lists Toronto as one of his favorite North American cities to visit.
“I enjoy being in Toronto,” said Foster. “It’s a cool city and one of my favorites we go to on the calendar. I have pretty high hopes for the weekend too. I think we’re going to have a good result. Obviously, the team has won there in the past couple of years (Christian Lundgaard, 2023), so we know to get it done.”
Foster definitely enjoys the Toronto track layout, but he explains that the circuit is very challenging and tough to negotiate during the race.
“It’s a quite bumpy track due to it being on a city street,” he said. “But it’s fun to drive and it’s pretty difficult at times with the most challenging being the pit lane. It’s a very weird one that curves left and right and is quite tough to navigate and find your pit box. I’ve been kind of coming into my own on the street circuits, and I definitely feel like we have a good result on the horizon. We were on pace at Detroit with an eighth place when we suffered a mechanical failure. But I believe we can have a strong showing in Toronto.”
This weekend at Toronto, Foster will team up with RLL drivers Graham Rahal in the No. 15 RLL United Rentals Honda and Devlin DeFrancesco in the No. 30 RLL HUB International Honda.
The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto race weekend starts with the NTT INDYCAR SERIES machines on track on Friday at 3 p.m. EDT with a practice session. The second practice round takes place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. EDT followed by qualifying and the Firestone Fast Six at 2:30 p.m. EDT. Sunday’s 90-lap Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto is set at 12 p.m. EDT. The 160-mile event will air live on FOX, the FOX Sports app and the INDYCAR Radio Network.
