Montpelier, Indiana (August 10, 2026)………Luke Hall went third to first on the final turn of the final lap to pull off a miraculous USAC Midwest Thunder SpeeD2 Midget victory on Saturday night at Indiana’s Montpelier Speedway.

Hall (Ludlow Falls, Ohio) ran third on the 25th lap when leader Zach Wigal’s car suddenly lost power entering turn three. Second running Bryce Massingill briefly got trapped behind the slowing car of Wigal on the bottom.

Meanwhile, that opened the door for Hall who used the topside momentum to charge past both drivers and beat Massingill to the line by a wheel, with a final victory margin of 0.108 seconds.

Massingill took second with Matt Lux finishing third. Point leader Ian Creager raced from 15th to finish fourth. Stratton Briggs rounded out the top-five. Wigal stopped just short of the finish line and was credited with a 21st place result.

The battle for the lead in the feature changed hands five different times with Hall leading laps 1-2 and lap 25. Massingill led twice for a total of two laps. Wigal also led two different stints for a total of 20 laps.

For Hall, it was his ninth career USAC Midwest Thunder points-paying victory, which ranks seventh place all-time.

Parker Leek advanced 15 positions from his 22nd starting spot to finish seventh and earn Performance Powder Coating Hard Charger honors.

Jalen Cox was the Velocita by Borsos Racing Fast Qualifier with a time of 15.629 seconds.

Heat races presented by Jeff Hill Trailer Sales, Stiefel’s Home & Auto, Hoosier Auto Racing Fans, and Jeff Hill Trailer Sales were won by Stratton Briggs, Brayden Schwartz, Jonathon Decker, Parker Perry, and Bryce Massingill.

Michael Magic received the Rosewood Machine and Tool Company Precision Move of the Race for his semi-feature victory, then advanced six spots from his 21st starting spot to finish 15th in the feature.

Tyler Nelson grabbed the Lynk Chassis bonus for finishing in the 10th position in the feature.

Dylan Trost scored the Wilwood Disc Brakes Tough Brake award for drawing the number 10 pill for the feature redraw. The top two from each of the five heat races were eligible for the redraw. Trost finished ninth in the feature.
