HUSTLE & BUSTLE! $20,000 HAUBSTADT HUSTLER FOR USAC SPRINTS SEPTEMBER 19 AT TRI-STATE

Haubstadt, Indiana (September 18, 2026)………The Haubstadt Hustler is one of the marquee events of the entire USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship season.
This Saturday, September 19, a whole slew of challengers will be putting it all on the line with a $20,000 prize awaiting at the end of 40 laps on the intense 1/4-mile dirt oval they call Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana.
It’s the 19th running of the event, and here’s a few storylines to hustle your way through!
LOGAN LEGEND
Logan Seavey left last year’s Haubstadt Hustler $20,000 richer as he passed Hayden Reinbold on lap 19 and led the final 22 laps en route to the 40-lap victory.
In the nearly two decade history of the Haubstadt Hustler, there has been just one repeat winner, that being Kevin Thomas Jr. in 2017-2018. Seavey aims to add his name to that short list.
Seavey has been his old self again after recent hardship, scoring his first win in seven months one weekend ago at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania.
5-TIME HUSTLER
Kevin Thomas Jr. has won the Haubstadt Hustler a record five times in his career. In fact, No other driver has won the Haubstadt Hustler more than twice! He’s also the winningest USAC driver at the track with nine career scores.
The Cullman, Alabama native has won the event in 2013-2017-2018-2021-2024 and never started on the front row any of those previous victories. Interestingly all five of his triumphs have come after starting in the second row: 3rd in 2013, 4th in 2017, 3rd in 2018, 4th in 2021 and 4th in 2024.
The Class Track has been one of KTJ’s most successful venues in 2026, finishing 3rd in the spring and 5th in the summer with the USAC National Sprint Cars.
RUNNING WITH THE 6 PACK
Logan Seavey & Kevin Thomas Jr. are among the six past Haubstadt Hustler winners planning to do battle this coming Saturday along with Kyle Cummins, Chase Stockon, Jadon Rogers, and Brady Short.
For all of Cummins’ seven career Tri-State USAC wins, only one of them has come during the Haubstadt Hustler back in 2016. The defending USAC National Sprint Car champion and current point leader has won twice at TSS in 2026, both with the Midwest Thunder 410 Sprint Car Series in June and August.
Chase Stockon achieved Haubstadt Hustler glory in 2020. Overall, it’s one of his two career USAC National Sprint Car victories at Tri-State. This Saturday, he’s vying for his first USAC score since February in Ocala, Florida.
Jadon Rogers’ lone USAC National Sprint Car victory to date came during the 2022 Haubstadt Hustler. For Saturday, he’ll be back in his own No. 14, the same numeral he sported in that win. He was 2nd at Tri-State’s Spring Showdown in May.
Of Brady Short’s seven career USAC National Sprint Car wins, two of them have come at Tri-State, and one of them came during the Haubstadt Hustler of 2015.
$100,000 TRIFECTA ROUND TWO
And then there were two!
Justin Grant and Kyle Cummins are vying for their share of the USAC Hoosier Trifecta at Tri-State.
Two Trifecta events remain with a pair of $20,000-to-win USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car showdowns on Saturday, September 19, at Tri-State Speedway’s Haubstadt Hustler and on Saturday, October 10, during Lawrenceburg Speedway’s Fall Nationals.
Grant took round one of the Trifecta in August at Kokomo Speedway’s Sprint Car Smackdown ahead of runner-up Cummins. Now Grant is chasing a clean sweep worth more than $100,000 in total prize money if he can win at both Tri-State and Lawrenceburg.
The driver with the highest average Trifecta finishing position who also finishes inside the top-three in the trio of events will earn the prize – over 100,000 dollars in total to win all three, a $20,000 bonus to finish second or better in all three and $10,000 bucks to capture a top-three result in all three.
HAUBSTADT HUSTLER BREAKTHROUGHS
Mitchel Moles and Justin Grant have each won a USAC National Sprint Car race at Tri-State in 2026. Moles snagged May’s Spring Showdown while Justin Grant took top honors in August’s USAC Indiana Sprint Week event.
Neither Moles nor Grant has won a Haubstadt Hustler yet. Moles was 4th in both 2023 and 2024, while Grant was the runner-up in 2021 and 2025. Moles has one USAC win in the bank at Tri-State and Grant has a total of four at TSS.
Robert Ballou is in the same boat as a two-time Tri-State USAC National Sprint Car winner with a best Haubstadt Hustler result of 2nd in 2014 and 2024. Carson Short too, a 2016, Indiana Sprint Week winner with USAC, owns a Haubstadt Hustler best of 5th in 2018.
BURNS-O-MATIC CARRYING THE TORCH
Put Harley Burns on your list of potential first-time USAC National Sprint Car winners this Saturday at Tri-State.
The Brazil, Indiana racer is the most recent sprint car winner at Tri-State, taking the Labor Day Weekend Challenge with the Midwest Thunder 410 series on the first weekend of September.
During August’s Indiana Sprint Week round at Tri-State, Burns led the first 17 laps of his USAC career before eventually finishing 6th. Somewhat surprisingly, he’ll be trying to make his first career Haubstadt Hustler feature start.
HAUB-NAUBING AROUND
Among USAC’s full-timers, C.J. Leary, Jake Swanson, Briggs Danner, and Hayden Reinbold are all seeking first career Tri-State Speedway USAC victories.
Leary was 2nd at the 2018 Haubstadt Hustler. Swanson was 10th at the 2021 edition. Danner was 11th a year ago.
Reinbold, meanwhile, has tallied a USAC Silver Crown and USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget win this year, but he’s still on the lookout for a first career USAC National Sprint Car win. Tri-State could present that reality. He led 18 laps and finished 3rd at the 2025 Haubstadt Hustler. This year, he’s been 4th and 9th in his two USAC runs at TSS.
RACE DETAILS
Saturday’s September 19 Haubstadt Hustler features the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship co-sanctioned by the Midwest Thunder 410 Sprint Car Series, plus the Midwest Mini Sprint Association.
Pits open at 2:30pm Central, grandstands at 3:30pm, drivers meeting at 5:30pm and cars on track at 6pm followed by qualifying and racing.
Adult general admission tickets are $35, students (ages 13-18) $20 & children 12 and under free. Pit passes are $40 for all ages.
